I know the author of this very cool piece of software. Have ridden motorcycles with him on a few occasions. He wrote this with motorcycles in mind, but I think it works for anyone here ;)

I have often thought about writing about my road trip apps. This reminds me of Scenic:

It’s chosen to highlight some
interesting
roads around me. The
mall ring road which I probably wouldn’t speed around. Another
in the dump site.
I
t knows a few
good ones that most people know.

That is super cool. I took it over the country area where I grew up and know the twisty bits , it totally highlights all the best roads. That’s sick.
Not perfect, but that’s algorithms :)

I know he’s processing limited, I think you can still download the KML scripts for Google earth and run your own ca lc ulations... The fully online version is like a “best of the majors” list I think. I know it doesn’ t have rt 108 over S muggler’s N otch near Stowe VT , even though it’s a well known road... it is also often crowded and heavily patrolled... maybe he cross re ferenced it with traffic data? that could explain some of the left out roads.

That’s a nice tool , unfortunately it seems to cut some roads in the middle or in m ultiple parts at strange locations around here.
